Haiti - FLASH : Pope Francis has died (video)
His Eminence, Cardinal Farrell, sadly announced the death of Pope Francis : "Dear brothers and sisters, it is with deep sadness that I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. This morning at 7:35 a.m., the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the Father's house. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and his Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially for the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we entrust the soul of Pope Francis to the infinitely merciful love of the Triune God."

Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio), the first Jesuit and South American to lead the Catholic Church, has died at the age of 88. His twelve-year pontificate was marked by reforms aimed at modernizing the Church, including the fight against corruption, the promotion of social justice, and openness to interfaith dialogue. Francis also addressed controversial issues such as child sex abuse within the Church and sexual morality, while remaining committed to traditional dogma.

Some reactions:
President Donald Trump:
"Rest in peace, Pope Francis ! May God bless him and all who love him."

King Felipe VI of Spain:
"[…] He will continue to inspire us with his conviction in the need to convey courage and comfort to the poorest and those in need, as well as with the importance he placed on dialogue and consensus to achieve a more just and united world."

President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum
"For Catholics and non-Catholics alike, this is a great loss. It was a great honor and privilege to have known him. Rest in peace." »

The Dalai Lama:
Pope Francis devoted himself to others, regularly setting an example in how to lead a simple but meaningful life […] The best tribute we can pay him is to show warmth, to serve others wherever we are and in whatever way we can."

The Holy See press office reports that "The transfer of the Holy Father's body to the Vatican Basilica for the homage of all the faithful could take place on the morning of Wednesday, April 23," specifying that the final announcement would be made Tuesday, following the first congregation of cardinals.
