Haiti - Politic : Prime Minister on tour in Cap-Haitien 17/05/2025 09:36:12
Taking advantage of his presence in the North, the Prime Minister, true to his commitment to establishing community-based governance based on listening, consultation, and action, will begin a series of strategic meetings with the region's key players. He will meet with community leaders, entrepreneurs, youth and women's organizations, as well as religious representatives. He will also engage in direct dialogue with the population to listen to their concerns and strengthen cohesion around national priorities. On his arrival in Cap-Haitien, the Prime Minister held an important meeting with the delegates and vice-delegates of the Nord department. This meeting is part of a strategic approach aimed at strengthening dialogue between the central government and the territories. The Prime Minister firmly emphasized the collective responsibility of all in the face of the major challenges facing the nation. He emphasized the importance of the active engagement of every local, institutional, and community actor in the democratic reconstruction of the country. Three national priorities structure this mobilization : - The sustainable restoration of security throughout the country; - The holding of a constitutional referendum; - The organization of free, credible, and inclusive elections. The Head of Government reaffirmed his commitment to building governance based on listening, consultation, and concrete action. He called on local authorities to collaborate closely with national authorities and international partners to ensure a legitimate and hopeful political transition. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of the elections, the Constitutional referendum, and the restoration of security. He emphasized the crucial role of all stakeholders, whether from civil society, local authorities, or the public administration, in rebuilding democracy, restoring trust, and reestablishing the Republic. Then, the Prime Minister met with the Presidents of the Chambers of Commerce of the North, Northeast, and Northwest regions. Discussions focused on three main areas : the security situation, economic recovery, and the private sector's contribution to the electoral process. In response, the Head of Government reiterated his commitment to restoring security throughout the country and ensuring the swift holding of the constitutional referendum and general elections, which are essential elements for the return to democratic order. He also advocated for greater involvement of local authorities in public procurement, so that state investments directly benefit entrepreneurs in the regions concerned and boost local economies. Furthermore, during his visit, the Prime Minister was informed of the advanced state of disrepair of the François Capois high school. Deeming the situation unacceptable, he summoned Antoine Augustin, the Minister of National Education, and Ms. Sterline Civil, the Director General of the National Education Fund (FNE), to the site and instructed them to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to completely rebuild the school, ensuring a dignified and safe learning environment for students.
