Haiti - Social : Distribution of checks to displaced persons for relocation
On May 15, 2025, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST) officially launched, at the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), the distribution of checks to support the relocation of displaced families, concerning the occupants of eight sites set up in school premises and public buildings in the city center. This program, implemented by the Government, aims, among other things, to improve their living conditions and restore their dignity.

During this operation, each beneficiary received a tax identification number and an envelope of ninety-nine thousand Gourdes (99,000) to help them relocate. Should be noted that displaced persons living with disabilities were served as a priority.

Approximately 3,400 of the 10,000 families concerned will receive this support initially, with the remainder to be reached at a later date, stated Georges Wilbert Franck, Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. "This financial support for internally displaced persons marks a turning point in the government's strategy, moving from an emergency response to an organized response; from a precarious situation imposed on populations to a planned intervention," he declared.

Minister Franck reiterated the government's solidarity in supporting the displaced while calling for civic awareness with a view to building a society where all citizens can enjoy a climate of well-being, progress, and happiness. Taking part in this ceremony, the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, Génard Joseph, welcomed this initiative and affirmed that this financial support is a promise kept and demonstrates the Haitian government's commitment to people with disabilities, who deserve special attention in society.
