Haiti - Culture : National Essay Competition, Registration Open
The Muse Haiti Center, in partnership with several national and international institutions, is launching the National Essay Competition on the theme : "The Right to Education in Haiti and the Promotion of a Culture of Peace". This competition, scheduled for May 15 to July 15, 2025, is open to high school and undergraduate students.

Eligibility Requirements :
Entry to the competition is open exclusively to individuals who meet one of the following conditions, as of the submission date:

• Be regularly enrolled as a student in an educational institution located in Haiti, from the New Secondary I (NSI) to the New Secondary IV (NSIV) level inclusive;

• Be enrolled as an undergraduate student in a recognized university established in Haiti.

• Be able to provide, upon registration, official proof of registration and admission for the current academic year. Any submission that does not meet these criteria will automatically be declared non-compliant and will not be considered by the jury.

To apply :
Participants must write an individual and original text on one of the proposed themes:

• Can citizenship education contribute to promoting respect for the right to education ?
• Education and social inequalities: can we speak of a two-tiered right to equality in Haiti ?
• How does the issue of linguistic rights (respect for the mother tongue) impact respect for the right to education ?
• Should the right to education in a country like Haiti include access to digital technology and new technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) ?
• How can the right to education help promote the right to peace and security ?
• The right to education and the right to peace in Haiti. Challenges, issues, and opportunities.
• The right to education is a fundamental and sacred right. Demonstrate its importance in the integral development of the human being.

Important : Any submission by email will be automatically rejected.

Writing Guidelines :
• Accepted languages : French or Creole;
• Maximum length : 4 pages, format (8 1/2 x 11);
• Format: Word, font : Times New Roman, size: 12, line spacing: 1.5;
• The text must adhere to a logical structure : introduction, body, conclusion;

An anonymous identification code will be assigned to each participant.

Important : Any text containing plagiarism, duplicates, or written using artificial intelligence (ChatGPT or other) will be eliminated without appeal. Submission Deadline: June 15, 2025, 11:59 AM (Haiti Time)

The five (5) finalists in each category will have to defend their text in an oratorical contest before the jury for a final evaluation, which will result in the selection of the two (2) winners. These winners will be announced during the official ceremony. Award ceremony.

Prizes : (Subject to change)
1st prize winner in each category:
- One (1) laptop;
- 100,000 gourdes;
- One (1) set of 20 books;
- A certificate of participation;
- Publication of the winning text
- 5 copies of the collective book

2nd prize winner in each category
- One (1) laptop;
- 75,000 gourdes;
- One (1) set of 15 books;
- A certificate of participation;
- Publication of the winning text;
- Two copies of the collective book.

The winning texts are also scheduled to be published in the country's official newspaper, Le Moniteur.
