Haiti - Sports : Two stars of Haitian origin on the roof of world basketball

The North American Basketball Championship is one of the biggest sporting events on the planet and is followed worldwide. The final series of the 2024-2025 edition has a very special significance for us, Haitians in Montreal and around the world.

Starting Thursday, June 5, the Indiana Pacers will face the Oklahoma Thunders, two teams that have generated a lot of press and prompted much commentary and prediction.

As much as possible, we will all be in front of the TV screen not only to watch this epic series that will pit two excellent teams against each other, but also to support two Haitian Quebecers from Montreal North: Lugentz Dort and Bennedict Richard Felder Mathurin.

Lugentz Dort (26 years old), 1.90m, plays guard or forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Bennedict Richard Felder Mathurin (22 years old), 1.96m, plays guard and forward for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA.

The presence of these two stars at the top of world basketball is no accident, but the result of sacrifice, hard work, undeniable talent, perseverance, and strict discipline.

"It is with great pleasure that the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal salutes the exemplary achievements of these two young athletes and wishes them even greater success in their careers and for this important event of the season."
