Imminent Risk of Famine

The semi-annual report from the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reveals that Haiti is one of 13 countries in the world, and the only one in Latin America and the Caribbean, at risk of famine. Haiti is among five countries facing an imminent risk of famine and mortality in the coming months.

New General Blackout in the Capital

On Tuesday, June 17, residents of Mirebalais, protesting against the control of criminal groups in their city and the authorities' inaction, forced the Péligre hydroelectric power plant to shut down again. Furthermore, Pierre Michel Félix, President of the Federation of EDH Workers' Unions, reported that a pylon on the 115,000-volt power line supplying Port-au-Prince was reportedly damaged, stressing that until the repairs are completed, it is impossible to supply power to the capital and the metropolitan area.

The CEP has done its Job

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has already assessed 95% of the polling stations and is ready to ensure the conduct of the constitutional referendum and the general elections, according to Electoral Advisor Jaccéus Joseph, during an assessment tour in the north of the country.

Rameau Normil's Promises

The National Union of Haitian Police Officers welcomed the promises made by Rameau Normil, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), on the occasion of the police institution's 30th anniversary, regarding the construction of several police schools and police stations across the country.

$7 Million for MSMEs

The Agriconsulting Europe SA (AESA)-UNITECH-IPEOS Consortium is implementing the Private Sector Jobs and Economic Transformation Project (PSJET), led by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the World Bank, in the five departments of the Grand Nord region. The main asset is the $7 million grant fund for Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs). The launch is planned for July 2025.

149 new UDMOs

After specialized training, 149 police officers have joined the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO - DDO-2)
