Haiti - FLASH : AGD recruits 80 new customs agents
The General Administration of Customs (AGD) informs the public that, in order to strengthen physical verification and customs control of cross-border flows of goods entering and leaving the country, and to better combat fraud, smuggling, and the introduction into the country of illicit and/or prohibited goods harmful to the health and safety of the Haitian population, it intends to recruit, through competitive examinations and under the supervision of the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH), eighty (80) new Customs Officers.

The newly recruited Customs Officers, after receiving adequate training, will be assigned to the Customs Surveillance Directorate of the AGD.

Eligibility Requirements :
To enter this competition, candidates must meet the following requirements :

  • Be at least 18 years old and no older than 40;
  • Hold at least a secondary school leaving certificate or its equivalent;
  • Be in good physical and mental condition;
  • Have an interest in issues related to border control and customs surveillance:
  • Be available to work anywhere, day and night, on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays;
  • Have a good reputation;
  • Have never been sentenced to an afflictive or infamous punishment;
  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or English is an asset;
  • Complete the online registration form available on the Haitian Customs website (www.douane.gouv.ht), save it, and print it.
    

Please note that :

  • Copies of the required documents and one (1) recent passport photo must be uploaded to the registration form on the Haitian Customs website;
    
  • Online registration begins on Thursday, June 26, 2025, and ends on Saturday, June 28, 2025;
  • The list of candidates who have met the competitive examination requirements, along with the dates and locations for the written and oral exams, will be published on the Haitian Customs website;
    
  • The exam results will be published on the Haitian Customs website;

Successful applications must be submitted, by the date indicated on the website, to the Human Resources Department of the AGD located at the Customs Office at Port-au-Prince Airport. They must contain the following documents :
- Registration form (completed, saved online, and then printed):
- Birth certificate or extract from the archives (original and copy);
- National Identification Card or tax registration number (original and copy);
- Detailed curriculum vitae (CV) (maximum two (02) pages);
- Secondary school diploma (Bac II or equivalent), original and copy, and/or other academic documents proving the candidate's level of education (original and copy);
- Medical certificate attesting to the candidate's physical and mental condition;
- Cover letter;
- Criminal record extract establishing that the successful candidate has a good reputation.

Note : The original documents will be provided to the candidate immediately, after consultation.

  • The deadline for the physical submission of application files will be published on the Haitian Customs website;
  • Successful candidates will receive a letter of acceptance as a Student Agent, granting them access to training in customs techniques and legislation and to the practical internship;
  • At the end of the training, only student agents who have obtained a passing grade of 65/100 or higher will be appointed as "Customs Agents";
    
  • Newly appointed Customs Agents must formally commit to working as "Customs Surveillance Agents" for at least five years following their appointment, before any possible request for reassignment to other AGD departments.
