On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the invitation of the "Tuesdays of the Nation", James Monazard, Minister of Trade and Industry, outlined the government's broad economic directions in terms of recovery, regulation, and modernization.
In line with the vision of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Minister outlined a strategy focused on entrepreneurship, industrial transformation, consumer protection, and digital innovation. He announced the launch of the Women's Entrepreneurship Support Program (PAEF) in the South, new financing for the sewing and shoemaking sectors through the FDI, as well as the expansion of the Youth Entrepreneurship Support Program (PAPEJ), which had already supported 41 businesses as of May 2025.
The Minister also highlighted the model of joint ventures, integrating farmers and local communities, as part of the development of Micro Industrial Parks, which are true drivers of inclusive growth.
Regarding regulation, he highlighted the strengthening of control mechanisms with a significant increase in the number of inspectors, the establishment of a 106 emergency number, and the requirement for bilingual labeling. Increased controls will target strategic products such as water, fuel, and gas. Finally, he welcomed the registration of more than 5,800 businesses via the ministry's digital platform, announcing the arrival of a one-stop online shop. He concluded by highlighting the ongoing diplomatic efforts to renew the HOPE/HELP Act, which is essential for the textile sector.
