Haiti - Plant Production : Strengthening Farmers in the South

As part of the 2025 spring crop year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), through the coordination of the Resilient Agriculture for Food Security (PARSA) Project and with the support of the International Agricultural Alliance, launched the second phase of agricultural incentives linked to crop production this week.
With a view to sustainably strengthening crop production in the South department, the Ministry, through the PARSA project, is expanding its activities to four new municipalities : Les Anglais, Chardonnières, Cavaillon, and Chantal, with the aim of reaching an additional 2,200 farming households. This new phase complements the interventions already carried out in the municipalities of Camp-Perrin, Torbeck, Les Cayes, and Maniche, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 4,500 across all eight communes targeted by this agricultural campaign in the Sud department.
Beneficiaries of agricultural incentives in the newly targeted municipalities will receive support with a variety of plant material, including : fruit seedlings: lemon, mango, orange, and apricot trees, among others; forest seedlings : cedar, mahogany, coffee, and cocoa trees; and food cuttings : primarily banana and yam trees.
Through PARSA, the Ministry pursues the objective of promoting more efficient and resilient agriculture in the face of climate change. This initiative aims to strengthen producers' capacity to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, thereby contributing to food availability and greater access to healthy and nutritious food.
