Haiti - Far North : Launch of the PSJET project which aims to finance 300 companies
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Mayor of Acul du Nord, Ms. Ziky Delcemond, launched the "Private Sector Jobs and Economic Transformation" (PSJET) project, aimed at boosting the creation and strengthening of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in 60 municipalities across the five departments of the Far North (North, Northeast, Northwest, Center, and Artibonite).

Through the Haitian Business Support Grant Fund, financed by the World Bank, the project aims, among other things, to improve business competitiveness, strengthen sectors, and stimulate innovation and research.

Ms. Delcemond, who is both President of the Association of Mayors of the North and Secretary General of the Federation of Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH), strongly expressed the hope that this project would be a genuine investment in the sustainable development of the Grand Nord.

The presentations by Diony Pierre, President of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Josselin Val, Rector of the University of Technology of Haiti (UNITECH), expressed the need for capacity building for young entrepreneurs to ensure their long-term viability.

Alfred Fils Metellus, Minister of Economy and Finance, appreciated the ownership of the PSJET by the university, mayors, and chambers of commerce, who will thus ensure that the project truly engages in the battle for employment so that everyone can have only one desire: to continue living and prospering in Haiti.

A meeting has been scheduled for the end of the year to assess the progress of the PSJET in its ambitious plan to finance 300 businesses in the Far North.
