Haiti - Culture : Launch of «DNL Fridays» (video)

On Friday, August 1st, the National Book Directorate (DNL) launched "DNL Fridays" a new bi-monthly cultural event to celebrate books, reading, and creativity, in the presence of Minister of Culture Patrick Delatour and other prominent figures from the cultural world.

The program included tributes, talks, book signings, an art exhibition, and stage performances.

Ernst Saint Louis, Director General of the DNL, emphasized the importance of this space, which will serve to highlight the country's cultural richness, particularly in literature.

For this first edition, a moving tribute is paid to two major figures in Haitian literature : the poet and publisher Christophe Philippe Charles, a committed figure on the national literary scene, and Frankétienne, a giant of Haitian and world literature, honored posthumously for his exceptional body of work.

Ms. Frankétienne, invited to receive an award from the French Senate https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-45011-icihaiti-literature-the-french-senate-pays-tribute-to-franketienne-posthumously.html on behalf of the writer, did not hide her emotion and satisfaction at this gesture. Minister Delatour then presented a special award to the writer, poet, and publisher Christophe Philippe Charles as part of the DNL's tribute to him.
