The Archdiocese is outraged

The Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince expresses its outrage following the mass kidnapping of nine people, including a three-year-old child, at the Sainte-Hélène orphanage run by the "Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs" organization last Sunday in Kenscoff https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45476-haiti-flash-9-people-including-a-child-kidnapped-from-an-orphanage-in-kenscoff.html . Outraged by this tragedy, the Archdiocese denounced a "moral shipwreck" and urged the authorities to act immediately to secure the release of the hostages.

Did you know ?

Although less famous than the Arcahaie Congress in May 1803, the Camp-Gérard Congress represented a key step in the consolidation of the forces engaged in the fight for freedom and independence. On the night of July 5-6, 1803, the General-in-Chief of the Native Army, Jean Jacques Dessalines, met with Commander Nicolas Geffrard in the Plaine des Cayes, at Camp-Gérard. This event symbolized the unity of the southern military leaders in the fight against the French, a key moment that contributed to the final victory in the War of Independence. Located on a small hill near the town of Pemerle, not far from the city of Les Cayes, Camp Gérard, where Louis Boisrond-Tonnerre, originally from Torbeck, was introduced to Dessalines, is a site steeped in rich historical significance and highly symbolic.
