North Coast : Cabotage banned

Official Notice : Under the influence of Hurricane ERIN, the Hydro-Meteorological Unit (UHM), the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC), and the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) are prohibiting all cabotage activities on the North Coast of Haiti this Monday, August 18, 2025.

Former Presidential Candidate Shot Dead in Pétion-ville

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Joseph Harry Bretous, presidential candidate in the 2016 elections, was shot in the head in Pétion-ville by unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle. He was rushed to a hospital, but died from his injuries.

Kenscoff launches SOS

Jean Massillon, Mayor of Kenscoff, issued an SOS to the Haitian National Police (PNH) in response to the upsurge in armed attacks. Tensions are running high, and the population is on high alert.

Digital Skills Training

Ms. Ketleen Florestal, Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, signed an agreement with Patrick Attie, President of the École Supérieure d’Infotronique d’Haïti (ESIH), to implement a digital skills training program for Ministry Executives, young people from communities and regions with less access to training, and other vulnerable individuals. The programs will last four months and will allow deserving participants to obtain a certificate of expertise in specific fields.

New Head at the Delmas Police Station

On Friday, August 15, 2025, Divisional Commissioner Luckner Dumond, Departmental Director of the West-1 Division, installed Chief Commissioner Nacius Junior Lacombe as the new Head of the Delmas Police Station. He succeeds Chief Commissioner Lavaud Bélimaire, who has been transferred to the West Departmental Directorate (DDO-I) to take on new duties.
