Haiti - Agriculture : Inauguration of the Aquin communal agricultural office

Friday, September 5, 2025, took place in the inaugural ceremony of the Communal Agricultural Office (BAC) brand new in the city of Aquin, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture Vernet Joseph.

Among the other personalities who participated in this ceremony, let us quote among others : Mrs. Josette Monperousse Cambri, mayor of Aquin; The Departmental Agricultural Director of the South, agronomist Aubourg Marcelin; The director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Directorate, the agronomist Jean Martineau Bince; The coordinator of the productivity support program for agriculture and fishing and improving rural market access to the market / component 2 and 4) (PAPAIR), as well as local authorities.

In his circumstance speech, Minister Vernet Joseph considered that the construction of the Aquin bac will give a new image to this too long neglected town. It will allow :

- to support local communities;

- to seek solutions to the problem of food insecurity;

- increase agricultural production and improve fishing performance.

The mayor of Aquin, hopes that this new premises will also be a space for exchanges, training and support for farmers, fishermen and breeders.

More than a simple building, this BAC, specifies Aubourg Marcelin, is the embodiment of an integrated agricultural vision and an important step towards agricultural decentralization. It formulates the wish that this initiative will allow on the one hand, to increase agricultural and navy production, on the other hand, to improve access to markets to markets by reducing post-harvest losses through the circulation of goods and services.

The Aquin Communal Agricultural Office was funded up to the US dollars up to the level of 258,737 dollars by the Inter -American Development Bank.
