The corrected version of the Constitution of 1987, amended, was signed yesterday Monday by the Presidents of both houses of parliament and by the two secretaries of offices of both Houses, paving the way for its publication...

Saurel Jacinthe, the President of the Chamber declared that the final text was checked by parliamentarians and that it is this time, a version consistent with what was passed at the end of the last legislature "now, nothing prevents to the publication of the amended Constitution" reminding to the various sectors of the national life to continue to put pressure on the authorities, so that the latter take the measures, in accordance with the amended constitution, to form the Permanent Electoral Council with honest and competent advisers.

Guy Gérard Georges, the First Secretary has indicated "I signed it, I saw that the President of the National Assembly has already signed it, I think the President of the Chamber of Deputies, and other secretaries have also signed it. So today [Monday] I think that the amended Constitution is ready to be published in the official newspaper 'Le Moniteur' and enforced. Once signed, we have an obligation to return it to the President of the National Assembly, which is obliged to send it to the Presidency," stressing that took the time to read the document "corrected version of the amended Constitution" to make sure that the version that he signed corresponded to what had been voted.

With these amendments, several institutions could finally see the day include : the CEP and the Permanent Council of the Judiciary. The amended Constitution also opens the way for dual citizenship and a greater participation of women in public affairs management.
