CODEVI : The Government Backtracks
Following Monday's protests, the management of the CODEVI Industrial Park (free trade zone) announced the suspension of the Haitian government's decision to impose a 10% tax on wages. This measure, according to officials, aims to preserve social peace and the well-being of employees. The workers returned to work on Tuesday.

New Attack by Savien's Gang, at Least 17 Victims
According to Bertide Horace, spokesperson for the Dialogue and Awareness-Raising Commission to Save the Artibonite, at least seven deaths and a dozen injuries have been reported in a provisional toll following an attack last weekend by bandits from the Savien gang in "Estral," a locality in the commune of Liancourt. The thugs also set fire to several homes and businesses.

August : 35,276 Haitians Returned to Haiti
The General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) revealed earlier this week that 35,276 Haitians in an irregular migration situation were returned to Haiti, a record for a single month this year. "This increase is due to a comprehensive strategy combining intelligence, surveillance, and coordination with other citizen security institutions to identify and execute interceptions at key points across the country, particularly in urban areas with high migration density, through the application of advanced techniques and information analysis," stated a DGM press release.

OAVCT NOTICE
On Monday, October 6, the General Directorate of the Third-Party Vehicle Insurance Office (OAVCT) announced the extension of a special deadline to allow uninsured vehicle owners to comply. This extension will end on November 3rd, 2025. As of that date, any vehicle whose insurance policy has not been renewed for more than five years will be permanently removed from the national system. According to the OAVCT, drivers whose insurance policy has not been renewed for three years will be able to regularize their situation by paying only one year's insurance. Those whose policy has expired for five years will be able to regularize their situation by paying only two years.

Laurent Saint-Cyr Meets the Diaspora
Laurent Saint-Cyr, President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Transition Council, met in Miami with several community and religious leaders of the Haitian diaspora in Florida to discuss issues of national interest such as security, democratic governance, and the organization of elections. He also met with representatives of the Haitian Center of Studies, including Bishop Pierre-André Dumas and Reverend Réginald Jean-Mary. On the sidelines of this visit, Saint-Cyr participated in an event organized in his honor by the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami and the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (HACCOF). He emphasized the importance of the diaspora's full involvement in national life.

At the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan, China, Haitian-born Naomi Osaka (27 years old), ranked 16th in the world, won the first round against Canadian Leylah Fernandez (23 years old), ranked 27th in the world, after 2.5 hours of play in two sets to 1 [4-6, 7-5, 6-3]. In the second round, Naomi Osaka will face Czech Linda Nosková (20 years old), ranked 17th in the world, this Wednesday, October 8th.
