Sunrise : PAP/Jérémie Flights Suspended On Monday, November 17, 2025, following direct threats from the "Viv Ansanm" terrorist gang coalition, the Haitian airline Sunrise Airways had to cancel the resumption of its flights from Port-au-Prince to Jérémie until further notice. Marine reinforcements deployed to Haiti In coordination with the Haitian government and at the request of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, an additional contingent of U.S. Marines has arrived in Haiti to reinforce the security of the diplomatic mission. This deployment also allows the Embassy to ensure the continuity of its support to the Haitian National Police and the Gang Supression Force (GSF). The Embassy informs that it will be open for emergency operations on November 19. Dominicans Increase Border Surveillance The Dominican Armed Forces have increased air and ground surveillance along the border in anticipation of potential incidents, due to gang threats to attack police in retaliation for an operation against the leaders and members of the "400 Mawozo" terrorist gang. A Dominican-built TP-75 Dulus aircraft of the Air Force flew over the border near Dajabón in the north of the country on Monday, November 17, before heading south to conduct surveillance and patrol missions. OAS/PNH : Instructor Training The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Haitian National Police (PNH) have completed a 6-week instructor training course at the Police Academy, as part of a project funded by Canada. A step towards strengthening the training capacity of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and developing the next generation of instructors. Compas : UNESCO gives favorable opinion The UNESCO technical committee has given a favorable opinion on the inscription of the Compas, one of the symbols of Haitian culture, on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, an important step towards its global recognition. Canadian Embassy in Haiti closed The Canadian Embassy in Haiti will be closed on November 18, 2025, for the commemoration of the Battle of Vertières.
