Haiti - Security : «The time of gangs is over» says Commander Otunge

In a statement, Godfrey Otunge, Commander of the Gang Supression Force (GSF), explains : "[...] since the transition of MSSM into the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), Haiti's security posture has fundamentally changed. This was not a cosmetic shift or a change in name. It is a complete reorganization of Haiti's security machinery, bringing together the capabilities, personnel, and intelligence of all national forces under one coordinated mission: dismantling the gangs that have terrorized the country.

Working in close partnership with the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), the GSF has adopted a comprehensive and sustained security strategy. Our teams continue to execute targeted, intelligence-led operations and persistent dominance patrols across key areas. These operations are designed not only to send an unmistakable message but to demonstrate, through concrete action, that the era of unchecked gang power is over.

We have mobilized all operational assets on land, at sea, and in the air. Our objective is clear: restore peace, protect the communities, and ensure that every Haitian can live without fear, with full access to their basic human rights. Joint operations will continue relentlessly until every criminal group is dismantled and neutralized.

The bluff is over. The gangs' recent threats and public bravado are signs of desperation, not strength. They reveal an armed group losing ground, losing influence, and losing the ability to intimidate. Their collapse has already begun.

As a unified force; PNH, FAd'H, and GSF, we are advancing together. We are taking ground, disrupting networks, seizing weapons, and neutralizing resisting armed elements. There is no safe haven left. We will strike at the core of their command, dismantle their structures, and uproot their influence in every area they once claimed. This is not rhetoric; it is what is happening on the ground today and now.

The joint security forces remain fully committed to dismantling every terrorist network that threatens the Haitian people. The law is the only authority in this country. Anyone who harms civilians or challenges the authority of the State will face a swift, firm, and lawful response.

To the Haitian people: a new dawn is emerging. Stay calm, remain vigilant, and continue to support the security apparatus. Your cooperation is essential in delivering the final blow to these criminal groups. Together, we are closing one of the darkest chapters in Haiti's national history. Order, stability, and peace will be restored, without compromise [...]"
