Haiti - Social : 56 solar street lights to fight against insecurity 04/01/2012 11:34:37
56 solar street lights are being installed as part of support efforts of the UN Mission in Haiti to the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in the fight against insecurity in the north of country. Ten streetlights have been installed on the Pont Neuf in Cap Haitien, rehabilitated by UN peacekeepers of Chile, 15 others in the difficult neighborhood of Zidore, 3 in the intersection of Centre Medico, 3 on the Place of monuments of Vertières, 2 in the popular neighborhood of Madeline, 2 at the busy intersection of the Airport. The Police Stations of the Airport of Cap Haitien and municipalities of Camp Coq and Plaisance, are also equipped with two solar street lights. The assistance of the MINUSTAH is part of Resolution 1927 adopted in 2010 by the Security Council of the United Nations, in which hit's stated that "The international community should increase its assistance to the Haitian Government to enable it to ensure the continuity of national institutions, to provide basic services and build capacity of the State."
