Haiti - Graduation : 100 young people with disabilities graduate in massage therapy and functional rehabilitation

As part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 100 young people, all living with a disability—blind, one-legged, with reduced mobility, or living with other forms of disability—who successfully completed a three-month training program in massage therapy and functional rehabilitation, proudly and emotionally received their professional diplomas.

This graduation ceremony, organized by the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), represents a turning point in the national inclusion strategy. More than just a diploma presentation, this ceremony symbolized the victory of courage over obstacles, the victory of perseverance over limitations, and the victory of human dignity over prejudice. This event took place in the presence of numerous high-level figures, demonstrating the importance placed on it by national and international authorities.

In his address, Génard Joseph, the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, defended his clear and ambitious vision of making people with disabilities agents of development, capable of fully contributing to Haitian society through valued professional skills. He emphasized that inclusion must not be merely rhetoric, but an active policy, supported by concrete actions such as vocational training, psychological support, access to employment, and civic participation.

The BSEIPH, with its partners, intends to continue this momentum by expanding vocational training opportunities to enable even more young people with disabilities to achieve independence.
