Haiti - Culture : The National Carnival will be held this year in Les Cayes

The President Martelly officially confirmed, that for the first time in the history of Carnival, the festivities will take place in the city of Les Cayes from February 19 to February 21, 2012 and not in the capital Port-au-Prince.
A first meeting was held on December 30 with stakeholders to discuss the modalities for achieving this event which has economic, cultural and political importance. Participants estimated that the success of the realization of these festivities, requires the active participation of all sectors. The pre-carnival will begin Sunday, January 15, 2012.
