Haiti - Environment : Workshop on best practices and lessons learned from the CBIT-Haiti Project

The Directorate of Climate Change (DCC), in collaboration with the management team of the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT - Haiti) project of the Ministry of the Environment (MdE), and with financial support from the Global Environment Facility through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP - Haiti), organized a national workshop on best practices and lessons learned from the CBIT-Haiti project.

The objective of this workshop was, among other things, to disseminate and strengthen best practices, innovations, challenges encountered, and lessons learned during the implementation of this project, with the aim of informing future planning of the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification system, public policies, and climate communication.

The results of this workshop should enable Haiti to consolidate its credibility and position in multilateral negotiations to mobilize the essential financial, technical, and technological resources for green and sustainable growth.

This event reflects the commitment of Environment Minister Moïse Jean-Pierre Fils to prioritize environmental issues in government actions.

Betonus Pierre, Head of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory at the Bureau of Mines and Energy, presented the inventory as a strategic tool for guiding public policy, stating that "[...] the National Adaptation Plan, the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the Climate Prosperity Plan (CPP), and environmental engineering remain fundamental tools for guidance and diagnosis."

Learn more about the CEBIT project :

This is a crucial environmental project led by the Ministry of the Environment, aimed at strengthening technical capacities for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and climate adaptation, in line with the Paris Agreement. This project trains local stakeholders to measure, report, and verify climate data, thereby contributing to international transparency and national climate action.
