Haiti - Economy : Dominican exports to Haiti exceed one billion USD (2025)

According to the latest report from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), Dominican Republic exports to Haiti, between January and the end of November 2025, exceeded one billion US dollars (1,064,220,000), an increase of 27.89% compared to the same period in 2024.

The report specifies that this growth is primarily due to domestic exports, which increased by 48.49%, rising from USD 504.46 million in 2024 to USD 749.07 million in 2025. Conversely, exports from free trade zones decreased by 15.78%, settling at USD 240.24 million.

According to the DGA (General Directorate of Customs), "70.39% of exports fall under the national regime, 22.57% under free trade zones, 3.75% under temporary admission, and the remaining 3.29% under the re-export regime."

Regarding the composition of exports from free trade zones, customs officials specify that "89.79% of exports to Haiti under the free trade zone regime are concentrated on 10 products," dominated by T-shirts and knitted underwear (34.75%), followed by other cotton fabrics (29.16%) and textile rags, twine, and rope (5.38%).

For its part, within the national system, the report indicates that 54.55% of exports to Haiti are concentrated on 10 products,’ among which stand out unalloyed iron or steel bars (11.13%, a 500% increase), hydraulic cements, including colored ones (9.52%, a growth), and soybean oil and its fractions (5.97%, a 178% increase).

Contrary to the increase in exports, Dominican imports from Haiti have decreased sharply. Customs officials report that between January and November 2025, imports totaled US$5.79 million, a decrease of 57.60% compared to the same period in 2024.

Under the national regime, customs officials emphasize that "81.90% of imports from Haiti are concentrated on five products," with undenatured ethyl alcohol with an alcohol content of less than 80% leading the way at 39.95%, followed by recycled textile products and textile production waste from free trade zones (21.51%), and insecticides and rodenticides (12.52%).
