Haiti - FLASH : Weapons and large quantities of ammunition seized at the Port of Cap-Haïtien

On Monday, December 29, 2025, the Anti-Narcotics Brigade (BLTS) and Customs officials seized weapons and a large quantity of ammunition at the CTSA 2 terminal in the port of Cap-Haitien. These weapons were concealed in boxes inside a shipping container belonging to the CMA CGM shipping company, which had arrived from the United States.

Jean Marie Clément Thelusma, 43, identified as the owner of the contraband and suspected of arms and ammunition trafficking, was arrested at the scene.

The operation resulted in the seizure of three firearms: two 9mm pistols (Ruger and Taurus brands) and a 7.62 caliber AK-47 assault rifle. The seized equipment also included eight magazines (four 9mm and four 7.62mm) as well as a significant quantity of ammunition: 1,800 rounds of 9mm ammunition, packaged in 36 boxes of 50 rounds each.

This joint operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the collaboration between specialized units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and customs services in securing points of entry into the country.
