Strong Tension in downtown Port-au-Prince

High tension reigned in downtown Port-au-Prince on Tuesday. Automatic gunfire was heard in the Bel-Air neighborhood, where several bodies were reported. Explosions attributed to kamikaze drones were also reported. Furthermore, clashes between security forces and heavily armed groups broke out between Rue des Casernes and Portail Léogâne. At least one public transportation vehicle traveling between Carrefour and downtown was hit by gunfire.

Brazil : Embassy of Haiti Closed

The Embassy of Haiti in Brazil informs the general public and the Haitian community in particular that it will be closed from Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at noon until Friday, January 2nd, 2026. Services will resume as normal on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Relocation of the Chancellery

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that the Ministry's offices will soon be relocated to #5 Mangonès Street, in Pétion-ville, to a building recently acquired by the Government. This space will replace the premises destroyed by the January 12, 2010 earthquake and will now allow the Ministry to welcome foreign dignitaries, government officials, and users of its services in a suitable environment that meets the standards of all embassies worldwide.

Paraison Shares a Friendly Meal with the CIMO

On Monday, December 29, 2025, during the holiday season, Vladimir Paraison, the Acting Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian National Police (PNH), visited the headquarters of the Intervention and Law Enforcement Corps (CIMO). The purpose of the visit was to inquire about the officers' well-being and to commend their unwavering commitment to maintaining order in Port-au-Prince throughout the year. Following the discussions, Paraison shared a friendly meal with the officers, extending his wishes for health and peace in the new year.

BINUH Discusses Elections with the CEP

Carlos Ruiz Massieu, the Special Representative for Haiti and Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), met with Jacques Desrosiers, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), to discuss the organization of the elections, including financial and logistical aspects, accessibility to all municipalities, and diaspora voting.

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, at a ceremony held in Dubai, Melchie Dumornay (22 years old), also known as "Corventina" was not named the best player in the world, but she became the first Haitian player to be ranked in the top 5 of a global football award.
