Haiti - Education : Installation of members of the Council of Higher Education and Scientific Research

On Wednesday January 14, 2026, the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) proceeded to the installation of the members of the Council of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the Villa d’Accueil.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Prime Minister, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, members of the Government, as well as representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps.

In his intervention, Laurent Saint-Cyr President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Transition Council, recalled that the establishment of this body marks "a major step in the reform and modernization of the sector of higher education and scientific research in Haiti". He stressed that the National Agency for Higher Education and Scientific Research (ANESRS) embodies "a solemn commitment of the State in favor of quality training, recognized and providing opportunities, in the service of Haitian youth and national development."

Laurent Saint-Cyr explained that the appointment of members of the Council responds to a central requirement "to consolidate the recognition, quality and influence of Haitian diplomas. An essential condition to offer young people real prospects for integration, mobility and excellence, while strengthening Haiti's place in the international academic and scientific space."

He also stressed that, through this decision, the Haitian State is making the strategic choice to place "intelligence, scientific knowledge and research at the heart of its development vision."

He reminded established members that they are now the guarantors of academic excellence, in a context where science, innovation and training constitute determining levers of economic, social and institutional progress.
