Operation in the "Barbecue" stronghold

Wednesday January 14, 2026, an operation by the Haitian National Police (PNH) carried out jointly with the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAD'H), the Gang Supression Force (GSF) and officially a mercenary unit took place in the stronghold of "Barbecue", leader of the terrorist group "Viv Ansanm", in Delmas 6, notably in one of the places where he resides but absent at the time of the operation. This vast operation aimed to dislodge all the terrorist bandits who occupy this neighborhood and restore peace. Kamikaze drones would have been used and the clashes would have been intense.

USA : Immigration visas suspended for 75 countries

The US State Department is suspending the processing of immigrant visas for 75 countries to combat applicants who may become a burden on the state. The list includes among others Haiti, Somalia, Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, Yemen... The suspension takes effect on January 21 and will remain in effect indefinitely, pending a re-evaluation of visa processing. This measure does not affect tourist or business visas subject to strict checks.

US$500 million for border security

In order to strengthen border security, fight against smuggling and collect customs fees with the Dominican Republic, a draft contract between the Haitian State and a consortium of international firms including the firm Evergreen, Alex Stewart International for a period of 10 years was transmitted to the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSC/CA) for approval. The Consortium is committed to investing $500 million (notably in equipment) for this project and will receive a payment that is partly fixed and partly variable, based on a % of customs revenue depending on performance.

Italy supports 1,000 households in Delmas

Thanks to the support of Italian Cooperation, more than 1,000 households in Delmas benefit from monetary transfers from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO - Haiti) to cover their immediate needs. This initiative quickly strengthens the food security of people displaced in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince due to insecurity.
