Haiti - Security : The Government visits the Gang Supression Force

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Laurent Saint-Cyr, pro Trmpore President of the Transitional Council and Coordinator of the Transition Council, accompanied by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and Vladimir Paraison, Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), paid a high-level visit to the Gang Supression Force (GSF).

This visit demonstrates the determination of the highest state authorities to regain effective control of the national territory and put an end to the activities of armed gangs that threaten public safety.

Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by Godfrey Otunge, the Force Commander, as well as by the FRG's leadership team and members.

In his address, Laurent Saint-Cyr expressed the Haitian government's gratitude to its partner countries, which continue to support Haiti in its fight to restore security by contributing troops and resources in a spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility. He also paid a heartfelt tribute to the agents and personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in this mission, honoring their memory and their commitment to peace and stability in Haiti.

Addressing the troops, he expressed his confidence in the outcome of this fight, declaring with conviction: "I am certain that together, we will win this battle against insecurity."

Reaffirming the authorities' determination to sustainably restore security, Laurent Saint-Cyr and the Prime Minister assured the FRG of the Haitian government's unwavering support. They emphasized the complete unity of the highest state authorities in the fight against insecurity, reiterating that restoring security remains essential for holding credible elections and for a return to stability and the well-being of the Haitian people.

The Prime Minister commended the professionalism, discipline, and exemplary commitment of the GSF members. He also expressed the profound gratitude of the Haitian government and people to Kenya for its leadership, solidarity, and the crucial contribution of its police officers to strengthening the national security apparatus.

He reaffirmed the sustained diplomatic, political, and operational efforts deployed by the Haitian state, in close coordination with its international partners, for the upcoming arrival of the first contingents of the GRF, which will eventually reach more than 5,550 military and police personnel, according to the preliminary schedule established https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46702-haiti-security-overview-of-the-gsf-deployment-schedule-in-haiti.html

Prime Minister Fils-Aimé's message is clear : the State will not back down. Armed gangs will be neutralized, and the security of citizens remains an absolute national priority.
