Tuesday February 3rd, 2026, as part of Operation Southern Spear, particularly against drug traffickers, on the orders of Secretary of State for War Pete Hegseth, an American warship, the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG-106) arrived in Haiti in the bay of Port-au-Prince accompanied by two American coast guard patrol boats, the CG Stone and CG Diligence.

The arrival of this warship comes as tensions continue to worsen in Haiti as February 7 approaches, the date marking the end of the mandate of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). Although the Council agreed to respect the end of their mandate, some of its members continue to engage in transition plans, despite warnings from US authorities about respecting the end of their mandate.

The USS Stockdale is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, 160m long, with a range of 8,100 km. It is equipped with 96 vertical missile silos (surface-to-air, anti-ballistic, anti-aircraft, cruise and anti-submarine), 6 torpedo launch tubes. On the artillery side, it is equipped with a 127mm cannon, 1 Palanx anti-missile system with 4 tubes (3,000 to 4,500 shells per minute), 1 laser dazzler and 4 12.7mm machine guns

The USS Stockdale is one of several warships deployed by the Trump administration to the Caribbean. Its robust design, combined with advanced combat systems, allows it to fulfill multiple missions, including anti-aircraft, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare.
