Kidnapping foiled, two kidnappers killed

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, in the Delmas 30 district, two armed individuals, suspected of belonging to an active kidnapping ring, were placed under surveillance by plainclothes officers from the intelligence units of the Haitian National Police (PNH). As the criminals were preparing to kidnap someone, law enforcement intervened quickly to thwart their plan. During an attempted escape, the kidnappers opened fire on the officers, who returned fire, fatally wounding both individuals.

25 FAd’H Soldiers to Martinique

The French Embassy in Haiti has announced the departure of 25 soldiers from the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) to Martinique as part of the SABRE Program https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-45388-icihaiti-fad-h-30-soldiers-sent-for-training-in-martinique.html between France and Haiti. These soldiers will participate in two weeks of intensive training with the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA). This is the fifth group of soldiers trained under this program.

A Haitian Cultural Fair, a first in Canada

For the first time in over 70 years of diplomatic relations between Canada and Haiti, a Haitian Cultural Fair will be held in Montreal on May 8, 9, and 10, 2026, in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, on the Esplanade Tranquille, opposite Place des Arts. A rich program awaits visitors: visual arts, literature, music, crafts, gastronomy, fashion, and thematic conferences.

South : 9 Hectares of Mangroves Protected

9 hectares of mangroves have been protected in La Cahouane, in the South Department. This protection was made possible thanks to the National Agency for Protected Areas (ANAP), with support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as part of the Macaya Grand Sud 3 project. These ecosystems play a vital role : protection against erosion and storms, carbon sequestration, and improved water quality. Their preservation also allows for the development of sustainable economic activities, such as sweet potato cultivation, strengthening food security, local incomes, and community cohesion.

U-20 : Cuban Coach Prepares to Select 21 Players
