Shipwreck : 1 dead, 1 missing 4 survivors

On February 24, 2026, the "Masa Lasa", a boat carrying goods and 6 people on board, capsized due to strong swells off the island of Gonâve. Results: 1 dead, 1 missing and 4 people rescued, according to Vernelus Willy Vice-President of the Gonâve Seafarers' Union.

Pact for stability, the CEP was not consulted

In article 12 of the National Pact for the Stability and Organization of Elections, the signatories agree that “The signatory parties agree to propose in this period of exception a limited number of changes in the parent law […]” changes which will be submitted to the popular vote at the same time as the first round of the general elections. However, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) emphasizes that it was not consulted on the issue and recalls that it does not have the mandate for these possible changes...

USA : Support for gangs, inclusive justice

"The United States will hold accountable all those who support gangs, including corrupt politicians who contribute to the destabilization of Haiti," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on the sidelines of the 50th Regular Meeting of CARICOM.

CARICOM : The PM discussed strengthening the FAd’H and the PNH

On the sidelines of the 50th Ordinary Meeting of CARICOM, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé met Carla Barnett, the Secretary General of CARICOM. Their interview focused mainly on the security situation in Haiti, in particular on the strengthening of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FADH) and the National Police of Haiti (PNH). They also discussed mobilizing support for the deployment of the Gang Supression Force (GSF). The discussions also addressed regional support for the current electoral process and the new bases for economic and social recovery, in particular the structuring of the development poles of the Great North and the Great South. Signing of an agreement to support agricultural production

As part of the Multisectoral Food and Nutritional Security Program (PMSAN II), implemented by Expertise France and co-financed by the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD), the Ministry of Agriculture and Expertise France have signed a memorandum of understanding to support agricultural production in the municipalities of Léogâne, Grand-Goâve and Petit-Goâve.

Dom. Rep. : Consulate Santiago closed

The Consulate General of Haiti in Santiago in the Dominican Republic informs the public in general and the Haitian Community in particular that on the occasion of the commemoration of Independence Day of the Dominican Republic, its doors will be closed on Friday February 27, 2026. Services will resume on Monday March 2nd at usual hours.
