Haiti - March 8 : A flood of tributes to women

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé:

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé paid a solemn and deeply moving tribute to all the women and girls of Haiti, both within the country and in the diaspora.

In a country marked by numerous hardships, Haitian women stand tall, dignified and unwavering. Guardians of the home, pillars of the economy, and driving forces of national resilience, they face a daily life too often marked by injustice, insecurity, and violence. Yet, they remain steadfast, bearers of hope, courage, and life.

This is why the theme of this day, "Women and girls must have their rights and achieve justice without hindrance," resonates with particular poignancy. The protection of women and girls is an absolute national priority.

Faced with these challenges, the Government is acting decisively by implementing concrete and immediate measures: enhanced security, expedited justice, and dignified support.

At the same time, the Government is continuing its efforts to promote women's economic empowerment and ensure girls remain in school, fully integrating a gender perspective into all public policies.

To the women and girls of Haiti, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé's message is clear, firm, and unequivocal: “Your dignity is non-negotiable. Your safety is not optional. Your rights are guaranteed by law and protected by the State.”
