Haitians in an irregular immigration situation who lack the required documents risk being deported from Chile starting Wednesday, March 11. This measure also affects nationals of other countries, including Venezuela.

USA : Trial Begins for Four Men in the J. Moïse Assassination

The US justice system began the trial this Monday in Miami of four men accused of participating in the assassination of former Haitian President Jovenel Moïse. The defendants—Arcangel Pretel Ortiz (53), a former FBI informant; Venezuelan-American Antonio Intriago (62), owner of a security company in Doral; Ecuadorian-American Walter Veintemilla, co-financier of the plot; and Haitian-American James Solages, who worked for Intriago—are being prosecuted for conspiracy to kidnap and assassinate the 58th Haitian head of state, who was killed on July 7, 2021 (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html). In connection with this case, five other people have already been sentenced to life imprisonment by the U.S. justice system. Furthermore, Christian Emmanuel Sanon (67), a Haitian and American citizen, considered a potential successor to Moïse in this conspiracy, will not appear in court due to his health. He will be tried separately at a later date.

Haitian rollerblader Gesny will represent Haiti in 2026

Haitian rollerblader Pierre-Louis Gesny has received an official invitation to represent Haiti at the Lucas Slalom Cup 2026, a World Skate international competition recognized in the Inline Freestyle discipline. This competition will take place in the city of A Coruña, Spain, from April 30 to May 3rd, 2026. It should be noted that this is not the first time Gesny has flown the Haitian flag on the international stage. Degrading Treatment at CERMICOL

MEF : Meeting on the New Tax Code:

On Monday, March 9, 2026, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance regarding the new Haitian Tax Code. The meeting was chaired by Serge Gabriel Colline, the new Minister of Economy and Finance. During this meeting, the Tax Policy Committee (CPF) presented the Haitian Tax Code as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening tax governance, improving the business climate, and stimulating private investment in Haiti.
