Haiti - Politic : Busy agenda of President Martelly in Guatemala
During a press conference at the Diplomatic Room of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport on Friday 13 January, before leaving for Guatemala, to attend the inauguration of new President Otto Pérez Molina, the President Martelly declared " [...] I have already met with President Molina, several times and I can tell you that I consider him as a personal friend, as a personal friend of Haiti [...] at the summit of CELAC [Community of Latin American and Caribbean States held on December 2-3, 2011] ... we have developed human relations that are very important to strengthen ties between the people first and then the nations. We also met with him recently in Nicaragua [at the inauguration of President Daniel Ortega] [...]

After January 12, 2010, Guatemala was with the Haitian people, not only we thank them for that, but we will never forget [...] Guatemalan Air Force had provided us humanitarian assistance [...] they help nearly 5,000 people, they have sent experts to save the people under the rubble and have also collected 140 tons of humanitarian aid at Guatemala, that they have sent to Haiti.

During my visit to Guatemala we have a lot of bilateral meetings, including with the new President Otto Perez Molina, to explore opportunities in terms of investment of some companies of Guatemala for Haiti.

We will also have a meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderón to discuss of the Mexican cooperation. Mexico has more than 13 projects in seven different areas, totaling more than $ 10 million. Mexico also wants to increase its assistance to Haiti [...]

We will also meet the President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, who wanted to meet me, it's itself who asked me, I'm sure he has things he wants to discuss with us and we are going to propose to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation.

A final meeting is scheduled with the President of Honduras, Porfirio Lobo, to discuss of strengthening of commercial relations.

Of course, while we are there, I can meet other personalities [...] we will do our best to meet everyone that we can, even if they are not on the agenda, to ensure that Haiti always out victorious, and as I usually say, the victory is for the people.

Parallely to the work we do, I announce that the Minister of Foreign Affairs [Laurent Lamothe] with a part of the delegation, will leave today to attend 2-3 bilateral meetings. omorrow morning they will fly to California to attend tomorrow night in Hollywood to a fundraising for the Foundation of Sean Penn [J/P HRO] strictly for Haiti to help in Haiti [...] in this delegation there will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs and our Ambassador Wyclef Jean that is our bridge between Haiti, the international and Hollywood whose he's a member, a member very influential of Hollywood [...]"
