On Monday, March 23, 2026, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded at 10:16:27 a.m. at sea, 35 km north of Gonâve Island (West Department).

The epicenter was located at 19.23 degrees North latitude and 73.41 degrees West longitude, 66 km west of Grande-Saline (Artibonite Department), 48 km southwest of Bombardopolis (Northwest Department), and 78 km northwest of Saint-Marc (Artibonite Department), at a depth of 12 km.

The Civil Protection Department (DPC) has not yet reported any loss of life or damage related to this seismic event.
