«Konbit Haiti Zero Waste» : 15,200 m3 of waste collected in the metropolitan area

The Ministry of the Environment commends the public's commitment and the continued appreciation received for the initial interventions already carried out under the National Program "Konbit Ayiti Zero Waste" in the metropolitan area.

As announced by Valéry Fils-Aimé, Minister of the Environment, at the program's official launch, the first phase of intervention has already mobilized more than 1,500 women and men. The Ministry is pleased to announce that, since April 2, 2026, it has paid all workers via MonCash for 10 days of work performed during the Easter holiday period.

According to data from the National Solid Waste Management Service (SNGRS) and the "Living Environment and Sanitation Directorate" (DCVA), the technical body of the Ministry of the Environment responsible for coordinating and monitoring sanitation efforts, and thanks to the deployment of a fleet of heavy equipment (trucks, compactors, dump trucks, etc.) from partner institutions, the program has already collected more than 15,200 cubic meters of waste:

Results in figures :

Quantity of waste collected: 15,200 m³, or 632 m³/day over a total of 23 days;

5 municipalities covered : Pétion-ville, Delmas, Tabarre, Cité Soleil, and Port-au-Prince;

Collection routes : 30 roads, 6 routes per municipality;

Fleet mobilized : 23 vehicles, 5 rotating fleets.

The Ministry of the Environment takes this opportunity to express its sincere gratitude to all institutional partners for their effective collaboration, which made these results possible. The Minister particularly commends the commitment of the SNGRS team under the leadership of Daril Balthazar, as well as the unwavering support of the municipalities involved.

In this same spirit, the Ministry announced that the program will continue, with preparations already underway for its expansion to other cities, notably Cap-Haïtien and Ouanaminthe.

Shgould be noted that the "Konbit Haiti Zero Waste" program is an initiative of the Ministry of the Environment to revitalize and give new impetus to waste collection and management operations. All of this is being carried out under the direction of the SNGRS, with the active participation of local authorities, with the aim of improving the population's quality of life and strengthening the State's presence throughout the country.

The Ministry reiterates and emphasizes, "Never forget : beyond public policies, it is through the daily actions of each individual that we can achieve a clean, precious, and ever-living environment."
