The CEP will reevaluate the electoral budget

Friday April 24, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) informed that it had transmitted to the Executive, a draft electoral decree harmonized with the provisions of the National Pact for the stability and organization of elections, after work to recast the Decree of December 1st, 2025. Furthermore, following the rejection by the Prime Minister of the electoral budget of 250 million dollars, the Council set up a commission composed of executives from the CEP, representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), to carry out a reassessment of the budget for electoral operations. The CEP is also working on a revised electoral calendar which must be published shortly.

Two people killed in a minibus

Friday April 24, 2026 two people, including a driver and a passenger, were killed in Bercy, in the commune of Arcahaie, during an attack by unidentified armed individuals against a minibus. This act caused panic among users of this road.

IMF : Haiti's economic outlook in 2027

According to the regional economic growth outlook from the April 2026 report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Haiti's economic outlook remains negative, at -1.7%. These forecasts should be confirmed or refuted at the end of Haiti's financial year next October. For 2027, the IMF forecasts a return to positive growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 0.5%.
