FLASH : 46% increase in the minimum wage for subcontracting in Haiti

Monday May 4th, 2026, Serge Gabriel Collin, the Minister of Economy and Finance, at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) announced an increase in the minimum wage applicable to workers in the subcontracting sector (Segment F) in order to improve the living conditions of workers. Currently 685 gourdes per day (since 2022) is now set at 1,000 gourdes per day (+45.99%). Let's remember that workers in the textile sector demanded a minimum wage between 2,500 and 3,000 gourdes.

Minister Serge Gabriel Collin further indicated that the Government also planned to gradually increase the minimum wage in other sectors, while ensuring that the balance of the economy is preserved.

Aware of the strategic role of the private sector in creating jobs and wealth, the Government has initiated discussions relating to reducing the cost of energy, particularly in its renewable component. To this end, from January 2027, the electricity rate in the Park Caracol area will be reduced to 21 cents per kilowatt, compared to 30 cents currently.

Furthermore, the Minister of Economy and Finance announced direct financial aid for workers. An amount of 625 million gourdes will be distributed during the last five months of the current fiscal year (2025-2026) in favor of social protection and purchasing power.
