Delmas : A rapist arrested

Sunday May 3rd, 2026, agents of the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) arrested in the Site Okay area, in the commune of Delmas, Maxène Merisme (49 years old) accused of raping a 10-year-old girl. The Minor Protection Brigade (BPM) has already taken charge of the case for all the necessary medical and legal follow-ups.

Revitalization of the Agricultural Sector Table

Monday May 4th, 2026 at the Karibe Hotel, the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Resilient Agriculture Project for Food Security (PARSA), officially launched three days of workshops (May 4, 5, 6) dedicated to the revitalization of the Agricultural Sector Table (TSA). During the first day, discussions focused on clarifying the mandate of the TSA as well as strengthening its coordination mechanism. The second day will be devoted to analyzing the issues and challenges linked to local purchases for school food. For the third day, discussions will focus on approaches promoting the resilience and sustainability of agricultural investments. Participants will also have to learn lessons from previous projects in order to propose more effective and sustainable mechanisms for the development of the Haitian agricultural sector.

NY : Haiti at the 2nd International Migration Review Forum

Marc-Elie Nelson, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, left the country for the United States to participate in the 2nd International Migration Review Forum (FEMI). Organized every four years, these meetings, which will take place at UN headquarters in New York, from May 5 to 8, will make it possible to assess the progress made by the Organization's member states in managing migration. For the Haitian delegation, this will involve, among other things, advocating for a moratorium on forced repatriations, denouncing the inhumane treatment suffered at its borders, strengthening the reception structures of the National Migration Office and negotiating mobility agreements for qualified labor.
