Zed Airlines : Inauguration of the Miami-Cap-Haitien Flight

On Friday, May 22, 2026, the inauguration of a new Haitian airline, Zed Airlines, headquartered in Delmas, took place in the Diplomatic Lounge of Cap-Haïtien Airport. This event coincided with its first commercial flight between Miami and Cap-Haïtien. In his speech, Davide Jean Charles, CEO of Zed Airlines, stated, "Today we are inaugurating our first Miami-Cap-Haïtien flight. Starting in the first week of June, we will launch new routes between Cap-Haïtien and New York, Atlanta, and Montreal [...]"

High-Level Meeting : GSF / Ministry of Defense

On Friday, May 22, 2026, the Commander-in-Chief of the Gang Supression Force (GSF), Major General Erdenebat Batsuuri, companied by members of his staff, met with Mario Andrésol, Minister of Defense. This provided an opportunity for the two officials to discuss several aspects related to the FRG mission framework. Beyond strategic issues, the two men discussed the prospect of the mission becoming fully operational starting next October, with the deployment of all contingents promised by contributing countries, including Chad, El Salvador, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Côte d'Ivoire, and Bangladesh.

Seizure of weapons and ammunition

The Haitian National Police (PNH), alerted by customs agents in Saint-Marc, conducted a search of Théophile Odile's residence, accompanied by Justice of the Peace Faneld Michel. The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of a Hi-Point Firearms rifle, a 9mm Glock Austria pistol, four magazines containing 53 rounds of ammunition, and 20 boxes of 50 rounds each. According to information available to the Haitian National Police (PNH), these weapons, ammunition, and magazines were in a package intended for Théophile Odile, who had left the scene before the police arrived and is actively being sought.

Sunrise Airways : Fuel Surcharge on Tickets

Due to rising fuel costs, an updated fuel surcharge now applies to new tickets purchased for travel on domestic flights within Haiti. Tickets already issued are not affected. For more information, passengers can contact Sunrise Airways customer service or visit one of its sales offices.

Collège Socrate Wins the Inter-School Championship

On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the 2025-2026 inter-scholastic football championship, launched on February 26, 2026, and held at Parc Sainte-Thérèse in Pétion-Ville, officially concluded after several weeks of competition showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of the young students in the municipality. Following a very lively match, Collège Socrate defeated Lycée National de Pétion-Ville 2-0 and was crowned champion of the competition. This championship brought together 13 schools: Group A (Le Cellier, Lycée National de Pétion-Ville, CMPV, and EMESAH), Group B (I.M. Lamarre B., I.M. Louis Jeanty, and I.M. Canapé-Vert), Group C (École Communautaire, I.M. America, and École Extension Moderne), and Group D (I.M. Fréel Pierre, Collège Socrate, and École Pythagore).
