Haiti - Economy : 66th Meeting of Governors of Central Banks of CARICOM (BRH Speech)

Ronald Gabriel, Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), participated in the 66th Meeting of CARICOM Central Bank Governors in Belize.

At a time of increasing economic and financial uncertainty worldwide, Ronald Gabriel, Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti, participated in a hybrid format in the 66th Meeting of CARICOM Central Bank Governors.

This meeting underscored a crucial reality: Caribbean economies must strengthen their resilience while moving forward together. More than ever, regional solidarity and cooperation remain essential to address common economic challenges and build a more stable future for the region.

For Haiti, these discussions are of particular importance. Geopolitical tensions, energy price shocks, and inflationary pressures are hitting fragile states harder and directly impacting the most vulnerable segments of the population.

This meeting also reaffirmed the importance of strengthened regional cooperation, improved financial integration, and a unified voice to defend the interests of small economies within international bodies.

Discussions on the CARICOM Payment and Settlement System, digital transformation, and the interoperability of payment systems also reflect a collective desire to build a more modern, connected, and resilient Caribbean.

Through the modernization of the payment system, the strengthening of financial inclusion, and support for priority sectors, the BRH (Central Bank of Haiti) continues its commitment to sustainable stability and more inclusive development.
