High-level meeting on securing production areas in Tabarre, Haiti

In line with the commitments to openness and consultation made by the Ministry of Public Works (MTPTC) last May during a meeting with leading industrial companies in the Tabarre municipality, a crucial step has been taken in the search for sustainable solutions for economic recovery and securing production areas.

As previously announced by Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, the need for a comprehensive government response materialized this Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with a major inter-ministerial meeting that broadened the dialogue to include key sectors of national security and the economy.

This high-level meeting brought together Minister Pierre Louis, Mario Andrésol, Minister of Defense, and James Monazard, Minister of Trade and Industry. They met with executives and representatives of affected private sector companies, including Société du Rhum Barbancourt, Comme Il Faut, Séjourné, Brasserie de la Couronne, as well as ECEM S.A. and E-Power.

The discussions, both frank and constructive, allowed for a review of the key issues related to the deterioration of road infrastructure and the security crisis that is paralyzing industrial operations in the region.

Aware of the urgency of the situation and the direct threat to thousands of jobs, the participants concluded this working session by proposing the creation of a dedicated Task Force. This structure will be tasked with ensuring institutional, operational, and rigorously coordinated monitoring of all discussions and initiatives undertaken. It will thus enable the effective linking of road rehabilitation efforts by the Ministry of Public Works, security strategies by the Ministry of Defense, and support measures by the Ministry of Commerce.

Through this initiative, the Government reaffirms its commitment to moving from words to action to restore a climate conducive to investment and guarantee the safe resumption of economic activities.
