3 Police Officers Killed in Action

On Friday afternoon, May 29, 2026, Haitian National Police (PNH) units conducted a major operation in the Carrefour Robert area, on the Verrettes road. Facing heavy fire from heavily armed members of the "Gran Grif" gang of Savien, the security forces responded vigorously, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists. Tragically, during these intense clashes, three police officers and a civilian (a scout for the PNH) were fatally wounded. The PNH High Command commends the courage of the officers who fell in the line of duty and extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. The weapons, body armor, ammunition, and the bodies of the PNH officers were taken by the bandits. Specialized teams remain fully deployed in the field to recover the bodies of the agents killed in the fighting.

Explosion during an illegal fuel distribution

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the Catalpa 23 area (Delmas), during an illegal fuel distribution involving a tanker truck carrying diesel, a violent explosion injured at least five members of the same family, including two children who were rushed to a hospital. The explosion set fire to several homes and caused significant property damage despite the rapid response of firefighters.

France : Repeal of the Code Noir

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, French members of parliament unanimously voted in favor of repealing the Code Noir and all the laws that regulated slavery in the French colonies, which had never been formally repealed after 1848.
