Summary :

Despite the narrow 1-0 defeat against Scotland at Gillette Stadium in Boston, our Grenadiers (ranked 83rd in the world) have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. In their opening match of Group C at the 2026 World Cup, our Grenadiers showed great fighting spirit, holding their own against a solid Scottish side until the very end.

Led by coach Sébastien Migné, the Grenadiers took to the pitch with impressive tactical discipline, well-organized in a 4-4-2 formation. Faced with the physical pressure of the Scottish national team, ranked 40th in the world, Haiti weathered the storm during difficult moments before gaining confidence.

Far from being mere spectators, Ricardo Adé's teammates seized their opportunities, proving incisive on the counter-attack. In the second half, they even took control of the game at times, putting pressure on a Scottish side that was under pressure at the end of the match. They lacked only a touch of clinical finishing and a bit of luck to secure Haiti's first-ever World Cup point.

Scotland started strongly and came close to opening the scoring when Scott McTominay's shot struck Johny Placide's post in the 17th minute. After an initial reflex save by Placide against Ché Adams, the ball fell to John McGinn just outside the penalty area. His shot, twice blocked by the Haitian defense, looped over the bar, unfortunately beating Placide in the 28th minute [0-1] to Scotland.

After the break, Haiti stepped up their game. Ruben Providence broke down the wing and unleashed a powerful shot that Angus Gunn, the Scottish goalkeeper, could only parry. A huge scramble ensued in the box, but the opposing defense managed to clear at the last second. Scotland pressed forward to extend their lead, but Martin Expérience made a crucial tackle to deny Ben Doak.

In the final minutes, the Grenadiers threw everything they had into the attack. Wilson Isidor came inches away from connecting with a dangerous cross from Providence, and then the powerful Frantzdy Pierrot's header grazed the Scottish post. Scotland were on edge, but held on until the final whistle.

It's a frustrating defeat because the opportunities to equalize were very real, but the overall performance is very promising for the rest of the competition.
