Haiti - Politic : Chancellor Forbin on a Mission to Panama

Raina Forbin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is on an official visit to Panama to participate in the 31st Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the 56th Ordinary Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

During this mission, the Minister will participate in ministerial work, plenary sessions, and several bilateral meetings with regional and international partners. These discussions will focus on the Haitian government's priorities regarding security, preparations for the upcoming elections, economic recovery, and regional and international cooperation.

On the sidelines of these meetings, the Minister will also hold consultations with several of Haiti's partners to strengthen international cooperation and mobilize increased support for the efforts undertaken by Haitian authorities to restore security, consolidate institutions, and promote a return to constitutional order.

On Sunday, June 21, on the sidelines of these meetings, Raina Forbin met with her Chilean counterpart, Francisco Pérez Mackenna. Both pledged to collaborate to resolve the situation of Haitian children in Chile (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47761-haiti-chile-complaint-filed-for-child-trafficking-from-haiti.html). Regarding this matter, Francisco Pérez Mackenna requested Haiti's cooperation in monitoring the minors who have arrived in the country. Furthermore, he indicated that Ambassador Marco Aguayo, on a special mission, will travel to Port-au-Prince this week to gather information to clarify the situation concerning family reunification, determine the status of Haitian children in Chile, and improve procedures for the resumption of activities at the consular section in Port-au-Prince.
