Pèlerin 5 : Gang Dismantled

As part of a major operation in Pèlerin 5, a district of Pétion-ville, law enforcement dismantled a gang specializing in kidnappings and burglaries of residents. Seven individuals were arrested.

Education : Public Schools to Get Internet Access

Déméro, Minister of National Education, announced a new phase in the education system starting in October 2026. All national schools, high schools, and public universities will have internet access. Furthermore, all public institutions will have the necessary electricity for new technologies, thanks to the support of technical and financial partners.

USA TPS : Warning from Catholic Bishops

Brendan Cahill, Bishop of Victoria, Texas, and Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration, stated, "Revoking the legal status of hundreds of thousands of people residing in our country creates a moral crisis, as returning them to their country of origin is neither safe nor reasonable." Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami, whose archdiocese is home to a large Haitian and Haitian-American community, told Miami Archdiocese Radio, "It would be an act of unspeakable cruelty for the United States to send families back to Haiti, where dangerous and unsanitary conditions prevail." He urged Congress to grant Haitians “a reprieve of at least three years” by extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

49 Trainee Magistrates Undergo 6-Month Internships

On Friday, June 26, 2026, the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) announced the assignment of 49 trainee magistrates from the 8th graduating class of the National School for the Judiciary (EMA) to 11 courts of first instance for a six-month practical internship, a mandatory step before their integration into the Haitian judiciary. The Port-au-Prince Court of First Instance will host 21 interns, followed by Les Cayes (15). The remaining interns will be distributed among Miragoâne (3), Jérémie (2), Gonaïves (2), Cap-Haïtien (1), Ouanaminthe (1), Petit-Goâve (1), Saint-Marc (1), Hinche (1), and Croix-des-Bouquets (1). These 49 trainee magistrates, including 13 women, took their oath on Friday before the dean of the Port-au-Prince Court of First Instance.

TPS : FUSION Deeply Concerned

The Fusion Party of Haitian Social Democrats (FUSION/PFSDH) expresses its deep concern following the United States Supreme Court's decision paving the way for the revocation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which benefits nearly 350,000 Haitian citizens living in the United States. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47849-haiti-flash-very-bad-news-the-supreme-court-authorizes-the-trump-administration-to-revoke-tps.html In light of this situation, FUSION calls on the Haitian government to formally request a moratorium on all mass deportations targeting Haitian TPS beneficiaries from the U.S. administration until the Gang Supression Force (GSF) is deployed and tangible results are observed.

Towards the Acquisition of a Hospital...

The authorities of the Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Office and their partners, are continuing their efforts to acquire a hospital on the site of the former Haitian Community Hospital. Bertrand Sinal, the Minister of Health, clarified that this project in no way involves relocating the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH).
