As part of its institutional modernization program, the National Old-Age Insurance Office (ONA) launched two national open tenders last week for the acquisition of IT and office equipment, as well as office supplies, for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. ONA's modernization also included the development of its first administrative, financial, technical, and operational procedures manuals, the strengthening of its information system, the introduction of secure institutional badges, and the continued modernization of services for insured individuals and pensioners.

A highlight of last week was the official launch of the second edition of the ONA-Polis and ONA-Education programs at a ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. The ONA-Polis program, supported by the Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister, is a support mechanism for officers of the Haitian National Police (PNH), recognizing their essential role in security, citizen protection, and national stability in a challenging context. ONA Education aims to alleviate the financial burden associated with the start of the school year and support families in their children's education, as education is considered a crucial driver of national development.

Director General Lovely François presented a report on her first 100 days at the helm of the institution. Beyond a simple accountability exercise, this presentation outlined a new vision of public governance based on transparency, accountability, administrative discipline, performance, and a continuous duty to report. It reflects the commitment to building a modern, credible institution resolutely focused on serving insured individuals, pensioners, contributors, and the Haitian population.

In just 100 days, the General Directorate strengthened governance and internal control mechanisms, restored administrative discipline based on transparency and accountability, recovered over 439 million gourdes in delinquent loans, made strategic investments of over 6 billion gourdes in bonds of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti, initiated the rehabilitation of regional offices, launched several calls for tenders to modernize the institution's infrastructure and equipment, enhanced ongoing employee training, relaunched the ONA (National Old-Age Insurance Office) conference as a permanent forum for institutional dialogue, and continued developing social programs for insured individuals.

In his address, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé commended the progress made by the ONA during these first 100 days and reaffirmed the Government's full support for the reforms undertaken.

He reiterated that investing in education, strengthening social security, and supporting police officers are priorities for government action, while emphasizing the strategic role that the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) now plays in implementing this vision.
