PNH-North : 2 Gang Leaders Killed

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Cap-Haïtien, the Northern Department Police (DDN) presented a summary of its operations in the department from June 1st to July 17, 2026. Several gang members were fatally wounded during exchanges of fire with the police, and eight firearms were seized. On July 15, 2026, in the Latanbri area, a locality in the Morin neighborhood, gang leader Peterson Belony and his right-hand man, known as "Dejwe" were fatally wounded. During the night of Saturday, June 27, to Sunday, June 28, 2026, in the commune of Limonade, gang leader Alland Gérôme, alias "Jhon" was fatally wounded. In addition, 391 people were arrested. Murder, attempted murder, robbery, rape, illegal possession of firearms, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust are the main charges.

Kenscoff : Aid for Displaced Persons

Faced with the humanitarian emergency caused by armed violence that has destroyed numerous homes, a delegation from the Social Assistance Fund (CAS), led by its Director, Jhony Raphaël, met on July 15, 2026, with the Mayor of Kenscoff, Jean Massillon, to coordinate aid for the 35,000 displaced people in the municipality, representing 7,000 families. CAS has already begun distributing 2,000 food kits and plans to increase the number of hygiene kits for women to 7,000. A social work team will be deployed to identify and assist an additional 500 vulnerable people, including the elderly and people with disabilities.

Strengthening the Fight Against Corruption

Prime Minister Fils-Aimé, accompanied by his Special Advisor, Mr. Guerly Leriche, received Ms. Monica Juma, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), who led a large delegation from the Organization. The two parties discussed prospects for strengthening their cooperation, particularly in the areas of combating corruption, developing judicial hubs, border security, and new avenues of collaboration. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to the rule of law and the fight against corruption. He notably highlighted the measures taken by the Ministry of Justice to transfer all pending serious corruption cases—approximately forty cases—to judges at specialized judicial hubs.

10th Feminist Festival Nègès Mawon

The feminist festival Nègès Mawon celebrates its 10th edition from Wednesday, July 22nd to Saturday, July 25th, 2026, in Port-au-Prince, under the theme Batay Nou Makonnen, the organizers announced. To mark this first decade, various activities, including conferences, performances, film screenings followed by discussions, workshop presentations, and gatherings at the Nègès Salon, will be held on Thursday, July 23rd and Friday, July 24th, at the Nègès Mawon venue. UN : 3 New Criminal Groups Added to the UN Blacklist

Three new Haitian criminal groups have been added to the UN blacklist. These are Gran Grif (Artibonite), Kraze Baryè, and 400 Mawozo (West).

Baccalaureate : Minister Déméro Expresses Congratulations

Friday, July 17, 2026. Vijonet Déméro, the Minister of National Education, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth running of the baccalaureate exams, stating that no major incidents were reported. He announced that the marking of the exam papers will officially begin on Monday, July 20.
