Haitian student Slanda François, detained in Russia since October 2025 on immigration issues at the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens located on Warsaw Road (Varshavskoye Shosse, 64th km, building 33) in Moscow, which houses migrants subject to deportation orders or administrative detention, has finally been released along with fellow student Anne Betsaïna César.

This release is the result of a lengthy diplomatic process led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of the Haitian Embassy in Vietnam. Thanks to the joint efforts of Haitian diplomatic authorities, a mission was established to secure the release of the two compatriots.

This welcome news marks the end of a difficult period for the two students and their families, who maintained hope throughout this ordeal.

The journey back to Haiti will, however, be long. According to available information, the two Haitian nationals are expected in Cap-Haïtien on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, where they will finally be reunited with their families.

This positive outcome demonstrates the importance of diplomacy and international cooperation in protecting Haitian citizens abroad.
