ONI : Modernization of consular services for the benefit of the Haitian diaspora

The National Identification Office (ONI) is continuing its efforts to modernize public services by participating in a major initiative led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to interconnect the databases of the ONI and the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI).

Meeting with Foreign Minister Raina Forbin, officials engaged in technical discussions to establish a secure digital platform that will facilitate the sharing of information necessary for processing certain administrative procedures. This initiative reflects the Government's commitment to improving the quality, speed, and reliability of consular services offered to Haitians living abroad.

Through this interconnection, the authorities intend to simplify identity verification procedures, reduce processing times, and enhance the efficiency of consular services. This development should notably facilitate access to several essential services, including the National Unique Identification Card (CINU), the National Unique Identification Number (NINU), and other administrative documents requiring reliable data authentication.

For the National Identification Office (ONI), this initiative represents a new step in its strategy for digital transformation and modernization of national identification. This project will help bring government services closer to the Haitian diaspora by reducing the administrative burdens faced by many Haitians residing abroad.
